Becoming Old School
Guys no amount of modern tackle will help you catch more carp unless you switch on. In the 1980s & early ’90s, we had some shocking tackle by today’s standards. We also had some really dodgy baits including tinned new potatoes. (I’m still a bit of a fan actually). We were clueless and learning it as we went along. Cuffing it! Do not believe the hype guys, today's Carp Guru did not know it all back then. We talked rigs, bait & total bullshit in candle-lit tents over a few drinks and funny cigarettes. Nobody worried about their tackle going missing, our knackered tackle simply stayed put whenever we popped home to re-supply. Some of us caught the odd 40 lb Stunner back in the days, and they became Legendary Carp Anglers. But it was not all by design, 75% of the time we got very lucky, do not believe all of the story’s. We did have great banter with trusted mates, we had great carefree times! But trust me, our sessions were littered with armature mistakes and total f*****g mayhem on occasion. We were a small, exclusive group of weird, super-keen, crazy, pioneers with Big Carp on the brain. This was before it all became way to commercial, sterile, boring, aggressive & toxic. Being Old School = Good times, great memories & trusted mates. Tight lines.
